Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress singer and dancer. Her first roles on Broadway include in the Musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. Her performance as Essie Carmahiel in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in a Play. Annaleigh Ashley Tony Award winning actor and actress has collaborated with directors and actors on stage and screen for all of her career. Ashford will next be seen as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani as part of the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently in production on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film will be released as an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford will be seen as Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre during the march 2023 revival of Stephen Sondheims Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who produced Hamilton, will direct the production. Ashford was Paula Jones, the main actor in Ryan Murphy's upcoming FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the crisis which swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as well as other main characters in the first impeachment trial in the United States in more than a century. She starred in two seasons on the popular CBS comedy B Positive. Also, she was a part of the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, which featured legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Not a stranger to Broadway Ashford has been awarded both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her character Essie. Other Broadway roles are Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the lead role in Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver and was raised in Denver.
